About the event

Growing up, Siphe was always involved in some kind of physical activity. She didn’t consciously eat healthy or diet, it was just a way of life for her. It was easy to be healthy; it was not a chore. She loved it. However, when she was in University, her lifestyle changed. Junk food, binge drinking, and not exercising consistently became the norm. It looked like her body was co-operating and adjusting since her metabolism was still fast. She still ate salads and drank water, but did the minimum amount of exercise required for her course, so it wasn’t showing on the outside. However, when she measured her body fat percent, she was shocked to discover that her tiny-self had very high cholesterol.

Says Siphe "We talk about being borrowed this life, being on assignment, being purposed for God. But I didn’t think about the intricacies of how God knit my biology together as part of that package. When I gave my life to Christ, I became more aware of the need to eat clean, exercise and respect my body. When I went to therapy, I further explored the relationship between my physical health and mental health. I have no problem pushing the limits of what I can do physically. But I realized that I can do so much more if I push the limits of my mind and spirit by learning how to internalize the scripture."

Through this presentation, participants will know why the Bible says our body is God’s temple, and move toward a mind-set shift to see exercise as “a celebration of what their bodies can do rather than a punishment for what they ate”.

Siphesihle hopes to inspire people to value movement in whatever form they may find that fits their needs.

Siphesihle is passionate about physical activity and helping people develop and maintain a healthy lifestyle. She currently leads a dance aerobics class under a Christian-based organization called Body & Soul Fitness. Siphesihle graduated with a BA majoring in Psychology and Human Movement Sciences, and also completed a BA (Hons) in Sports Management. She is trained in coaching netball, swimming, soccer and athletics, as well as health and fitness consulting.

Her experience over the years has included training primary and high school girls in various sporting codes including netball, athletics, and swimming. She has worked with children and adults to develop fitness plans to suit their needs in a gym space and private consulting.
